The industrial and agricultural revolutions have profoundly transformed the world, but the unintended consequence of these revolutions is that humans are changing the climate of Earth. We will briefly cover recent data on climate change and then turn to the rapidly changing energy landscape and how science, engineering and innovation can provide a path to a sustainable and more prosperous future.

Steven Chu is the William Kenan Jr. Professor of Physics and Professor of Molecular & Cellular Physiology at Stanford University, was  awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 1997, and was Secretary of Energy from January 2009 to April 2013. He has undergraduate degrees in mathematics and physics from the University of Rochester, a Ph.D. in physics from the UC Berkeley and 32 honorary degrees.

Building on its great success outside the United States, Café Scientifique Silicon Valley is the first such Café on the West Coast. We meet monthly to discuss a variety of science topics.
